Understanding Hand Pain – Causes, Types & Care at Rehab Chamber

Foot pain includes any discomfort from the heel to the toes, affecting bones, muscles, fascia, nerves, or alignment. The foot is a highly complex structure that supports your entire body weight—small changes can cause big issues.

Symptoms of Hand Pain May Include:

  • Pain when walking, especially first thing in the morning

  • Heel, arch, or toe pain

  • Swelling, redness, or warmth

  • Sharp, burning, or aching sensations

  • Difficulty walking or standing for long periods

  • Pain worsened by shoes or going barefoot

Common Causes of Hand Pain

Plantar Fasciitis

Inflammation of the thick band of tissue under the foot—often causing sharp heel pain with the first step in the morning.

Flat Feet (Pes Planus)

Collapsed arches can contribute to strain on the foot, ankle, and knee over time.

Metatarsalgia

Pain in the ball of the foot due to pressure overload—often from tight calves or improper footwear.

Morton Neuroma

Irritation of a nerve between the toes—often described as a burning or electric pain in the forefoot.

Osteoarthritis

Degenerative changes in foot or toe joints leading to stiffness, swelling, and aching.

Fracture

  • Stress fracture: Small cracks in the bones due to overuse, especially in runners or athletes.

  • Metatarsal fracture: Often from impact or overuse (e.g runners or dancers)

  • Toe fracture: Usually caused by stubbing or dropping something on the foot

  • Calcaneal (heel bone) fracture: often occur from falls or high-impact landings

Tendionpathies (Posterior Tibial, Peroneal, Etc.)

Poor ergonomics, overuse or faulty mechanics can irritate tendons supporting the foot and ankle.

Iselin Disease (pediatric overuse) aka apophysitis

Common overuse condition in growing kids where the outer foot (base of the fifth metatarsal) becomes painful and swollen. It happens because repetitive pulling from a tendon (peroneus brevis tendon) irritates the growth plate. This usually occurs in young athletes who do a lot of running, jumping, or quick side movements—like soccer, basketball, or dance.

Did You Know?

Tight hips and calves often overload the foot, especially the plantar fascia. Addressing the whole kinetic chain is key to lasting recovery.

Our Integrated Program IncludeS:

  • Hands-on manual therapy to reduce tension and improve mobility

  • Shockwave therapy (if available) for chronic tendon pain

  • Chiropractic care for joint function and overall mechanics

  • Myofascial release and Dry Needling/Acupuncture

  • Progressive exercise rehab to rebuild strength and prevent recurrence

  • Tendon and nerve gliding techniques

  • Ergonomic and activity modification coaching

  • Supportive taping or bracing (if needed)

  • Referral to a medical provider or imaging if appropriate

At Rehab Chamber, we don’t just look at the hand—we assess your entire Lower limb, including posture, nerve mobility, joint mechanics, and repetitive stress patterns.
